Skvělé nasládlé dřevité pití s ovocnými tóny, lehce štiplavý. Přesně dle mého gusta.

My reviews aren’t that sophisticated yet, maybe my pallette isn’t either but I know what I would buy again and what I wouldn’t actively seek. This one is a nice sipping rum, seems a bit immature to me as it’s missing some of the base notes but pleasant enough if it’s offered.
On the nose: tropical fruits and sugar cane, brown sugar, sweetness, some cocoa, caramel and berries, some alcohol, star fruit, grapes.
On the palate: brown sugar, tropical fruits, sweetness, spices, a touch of port wine, caramel, pepper, intense.
In the finish: spices, tropical fruits and some dark chocolate, dark caramel, pepper, becoming drier, alcohol.
In der Nase: tropische Früchte und Zuckerrohr, brauner Zucker, Süße, etwas Kakao, Karamell und Beeren, etwas Alkohol, Sternfrucht, Weintrauben.
Am Gaumen: brauner Zucker, tropische Früchte, Süße, Gewürze, ein Hauch Portwein, Karamell, Pfeffer, intensiv.
Im Abgang: Gewürze, tropische Früchte und etwas dunkle Schokolade, dunkles Karamell, Pfeffer, trockener werdend, Alkohol.

Foursquare produces a nice product. To me they are all about equal. Without the addition of anything they make a smooth & mostly sweet rum. To me they always lack a nice aroma and taste a little more harsh that what I’d prefer. However their rum always tastes clean and light. Overall I would say this is on par from what you’d expect from Foursquare. Very good, not great.
Pleasant amber colour and whatever fumes you encounter at the start quickly fade away to reveal a complex nose of raisins, baked apple and maybe a bit of white pepper. Lingers long on the palate to a delightful Christmas pudding finish. Wonderful.
Today I have a Detente 2020 in the glas. I'm a little bit late with my rating, but this one had to wait because there were so much other bottlings that I wanted to taste first.
The nose reminds me of Doorlys 14. A balanced and very good Foursquare nose.
I get the typical caramel with hazelnuts first. Then some oak with vanilla a lot of dry fruits and some more heavy notes of wet barrel. I get also a bright note of a fruit like melon but it's overlapped by the more heavy aromas. A silightly medical note is also in the backgrround.
Very good nose overall, even if these aromas do not surprise me, I find this balance very appealing.
The taste starts sweet with caramel and dry fruits, then I get some bitter notes of tannins and the typical hazelnuts. This is a good and tasty start, not very complex but I like it.
In the middle I get again the hazelnuts with caramel, dry fruits, oak and vanilla. It's again not very complex and a represents a typical Foursquare.
The finish is a little bit spicy with vanilla, oak, then the typical dark dry fruits like plum. Then I noticed some burnt sugar and in the very end I get some dry fruits like apricots with dates.
Good rum overall, it's easy enjoyable and a good representation of Foursquare rum.
I would rate it with 85 points. To get more points it should have more complexity (more aromas and heavy notes).

Barbados. 10 years in ex-bourbon and ex-port casks. 51%. This is probably my favorite thus far. Not sure that my palate is sophisticated enough pick up the port influence, but this is really tasty.
Qualität: 9
PLV: 8
Summe: 8+
War mein erster Foursquare, mit Sicherheit nicht der Letzte.

Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

Good overall, I don't think it's amazing for my own tastes. Very spicy, woody, bourbon, but balanced enough. Dry and boozy.
