A warm and inviting rum which has sweet vanilla and caramel flavours, followed a natural pepper and spice finish.
Typical Jamaican rum with a strong taste. More dry than sweet for me, well balanced. Its very smooth but is lacking of complexity - taste of vanillia, dried fuits, nuts and cinnamon. Maybe more years in barrel shoul give it more taste. Very solid position at its price
Alkohol: 40 %
Původ: Jamajka
Aroma: Exotické dřevo, mléčná čokoláda, cukrkandl, mandle v čokoládě, skořice. (83 b)
Chuť: Sušší než vůně, ale ne až tak jako základní verze. Mandle v čokoládě, lakovost, těžší dřevo. Trocha toho kořeníčka. (81 b)
Body: 82/100
Shrnutí: Ochutnán s kamarádem na naší zářijové akci. Žádný zázrak tahle značka, nic moc rumy, tenhle oproti základu má lepší jen lahev. Za což si připlatíte čtyři kila a máte to za litr. Čili slovy klasika: naprosto zbytečná záležitost.
I don't find any information how many years is aged (i read there is a possibility that the rum is still the same, only the bottle is different). Never tried the younger version, so cannot compared them. However, i think it's a little bit pricey for what it is. For 40 euro in my country we are entering in different range with much better rums. It's decent rum, but i will never buy again this limited version.
Flavorful sipper at an extremely reasonable price.
I really enjoy the Blackwell Black Gold Special Reserve, and so I was curious to find out if this was any better.
They were both very close, but I ever so slightly prefer the original to this.
This is somewhat like the Appleton rums, but with a tad more sweetness which I like (I find the Appleton's to be too dry). I found the Black Gold Special Reserve to be a bit easier drinking than this, as this is just a bit dryer (but not much).
Smells and tastes of honey, spice, molasses, and vanilla. A great rum for the money, and a great Jamaican rum!
Tonight’s Rum, Blackwell 007 Jamaican. This rum was inspired by both the fact that Ian Fleming live in Jamaica and the movie No Time to Die. I had thought to buy this rum myself but held off thinking the branding was too gimmicky.
In the glass this rum is substantially dark. It give’s me the impression that it’s packed with demerara flavours. My fave by the way. The nose or bouquet of the rum is complex almost indiscernible. I get orange, chocolate and a hint of tobacco, but there’s more spices in there. The alcohol portion puts it square in the rum family and even a novice rum drinker would get that.
The first sip on the lips, puts honey on my mind but that quickly fades to reveal a delicate blend of essences. An earthy orange peel, dry brown sugar, some vanilla and a smidge of banana and allspice. A bit of white pepper closes it out. Overall I think it’s more dry than sweet and pairs nicely with a Cadburry Premium Dark Chocolate. I find the dark chocolate sweeter than the rum.
In the throat, it’s easy, not big burn. It’s moderate to mild and and likely and easy sipper for most drinkers. The finish is where I find this rum lacking. It’s sour and musky and a bit on the dry side for me. I realize that some people might like it that way. So I’ll leave that up to you.
It’s a strong 8 out of 10, because I like a sweeter, richer, rum. Could be served neat or in a cocktail like a Rum Sour or Mait Tai. This rum is number 362 of my 500 rum goal.
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

Bond, Chris Blackwell, Golden Eye.... What's not to love? But does the marketing overshadow the rum. No this rum is great. Been in the market for some time and getting harder to find. Worth the hunt. Looking forward to trying the regular Blackwell rum because of this experience.
