I love Cihuatan and this basic version is great. You can smell and taste vanilla and caramel. It is easy and clear rum. If you taste it with cigar, the vanilla smell is even stronger. Yummy.
My step son works at a local large chain liquor store in Houston and is always bringing home something new. So he gifted me with one. Nice color, great smell. First taste was mild , not overwhelming. Nice notes of caramel and vanilla. Certainly one worth trying if you tend to like a little on the sweet side.
It’s very clean all around, with some notes of honey, orange, berry, slight vanilla whisky
A little bit of heat
Around $24 at Trader Joe’s
Medium light color, used it as a column still aged rum for a Tiki Bowl from the Smuggler's Cove book. Worked well.
Sampled at the Laka Loco Rum Club tasting on 12/28/22. Pours a light gold color. Aroma is a delightful tropical fruit and honey. Palate is "sticky" in that it seems buttery and thick. Flavor is a big honey sweetness, woody (oak?), and finishes with a mild pepper bite. Very nice rum. My favorite of the easy to obtain Cihuatan rums.
First bottle of this for me from a friend's recommendation and I have to say it's lovely. A whole mix of flavours - vanilla, dark chocolate, slight lemon- all really nicely balanced in a smooth easy drinking rum.
This certainly won't be the last bottle!

Light vanilla rum 7 out of 10
Aroma is gentle with vanilla and caramel.
Taste is easy, lightly sweet, not complex with again mostly vanilla taste. Aftertaste is short.
