This rum need time to breath in glass.
Aroma is nice with wood and fruit. First taste is explosion of fruit, wood and earth. After is comming small alcohol burn, but much lower than you would expect from 63%. Aftertaste is woody bitter with sherry tones and only average long. All time you can feel some "Caroni" like tones on backgroung but far from typical heavy Caroni. Here is description from producer web:
This is an 11-year-old rum from the now-closed Ten Cane distillery in Trinidad. The rum was tropical aged for 7 years and bottled at a cask strength of 63.0% from cask number 80. It is a typical Trinidad style rum and an excellent alternative to the famous Caroni.

Great fruity Ten Cane

This bottling from The Duchess is a Ten Cane from Trinidad, which was produced in 2008 in pot style and was allowed to be stored tropically for 11 years. The rum was bottled at a cask strength of 63% alcohol without additives or filtration as a single cask in 232 bottles.
The rum has a really fantastic nose. A lot of fruit is dominant. Red fruits with currants and grapes, but also dried fruits with raisins. In addition caramelized fruit, nut, a fine spice and a noticeable barrel influence. The whole thing is very round and balanced. On the palate, the rum again shows fruit with dried fruits, but also significantly more spice and barrel influence. Caramelized notes and toasted barrel meet nut and chocolate. The whole thing is powerful, heavy and concentrated. The finish is woodier with tannins, spice, pepper and dried fruits and dark chocolate. The rum is earthy and nice and dry.
A very good Ten Cane and great rums if you like a clean blend of fruit and cask influence. The rum is strong with a lot of body but well balanced. The alcohol is also wonderfully integrated. Great.
Toll.
