Another nice job by Savanna, but to my taste really not as good as the grand arômes.
You really feel the cask but pretty balanced, enjoyed it.

Traditional column still rum from Savanna.
First flavors in the nose are the intensive dry fruits with grains, then caramel, some cocoa, orange peels, wood and earth. Grains is the typical Reunion note.

The initial taste is a little bit bitter, I'm not sure if 12y would be better for this rum. I mean it's balanced and smooth, but the tannins are a little bit too intensive.
The taste is typical Reunion with dry fruits and grains, in the middle tast is some wood with apricot. It's intensive and balanced with great aftertaste. I love leather in combination with firmint.

The combination of aromas is nice and complex. The finish is a little bit too spicy. The nose is a little bit better and sweeter. I would prefer slightly more caramel in the taste to cover the tannins.
Because of the long aging I would rate it with 89 points.

Nose: dry fruits **, tobacco, caramel *, grains **, cocoa *, plants, oak, some apricot, wet cask with earth (cognac cask)
Initial taste: dry fruits, grains, wood with tannins, orange peels (typical for cognack finish), hints of caramel
Middle taste: grains (buckwheat, typical Reunion not), rye, burned sugar, grasy notes, dry fruit, wood with apricot and tannins
Finish: spice, buckwheat, wood, earth, tannins
Aftertaste: citrus, leather, firmint (oh, yes I like this Reunion aftertaste)

Sweetness: 1.5/5
Fruit: 2/5
Spice: 3.5/5
Mildness: 3/5
Complexity: 4/5
Value (99€ for 0.5l): 3.5/5 too expensive for 0.5l (70€ would be ok)
Experience level: professional
