Pas un rhum de dégustation. En ti-punch il fait bien le travail.
Visited Martinique over the Holidays and found out that J. Bally Distillery was closed years ago, so got a bottle of J. Bally Blanc at the local supermarket. Very nice old school bottle and label design. Traditional very dry Rhum Agricole notes followed by grass, citrus fruits and floral bouquet to your nose and palate. Very strong burn at the end. Rhum Agricole lovers can easily add 2 points to my score.

Solid agricole 8 out of 10
Aromas of saw dust, grapefruit and citron succade, really pleasant nose altogether. Slightly viscous mouthfeel, well integrated alcohol without any burn. Notes of green plantains, cane juice, peach skins, slightly unripe mango, papaya. There is just a touch metallic bitterness and a short aftertaste that stops the final leap to the top shelf. Really good and well priced. I’d say a 7, based solely on flavour.
