Sweet, brown sugar aroma, sweet taste with slight buttery aftertaste

I like trying new things and without expiriments and innovation, the world would be very boring. Despite this, I’m not entirely feeling the magic with beer cask finished rum. It’s not that it’s bad, to me it’s just more “fun” than great.
This 10 year rum from trinidad is amber light and coats the glass suspiously when swirled, in an “added sugar” kinda way.
The nose gives of orange, malty caramel notes and perhaps a slightly bitter, floral note of hops. Overall the profile leans towards the sweet side.
The beer finish shines through in the mouth as well, but it’s not going overboard. The balance is a little offset to the sweet side, but nice nonetheless. It takes off with malty, caramel sweetness and orange, then fading into a more floral character of hops and baking spices.
The finish is not very long, but does linger for a while.
Geuss I would rather have my beer and rum seperate.
