Kirk and Sweeney 12-Year

I found this smooth, very drinkable and one to enjoy with friends - making it a solid crowd pleaser. I sense a lot of additional sugar, which is why I rate it a 7, but having a look around online it says it has little additives, but I find that hard to believe. Still I wasn't disappointed and I look forward to going through their range.

Tasted at Laka Lono on 1/19/20. This was the earlier version of the rum that they have reconfigured as reserva. Big banana aroma. Sweetness to first taste with a mild pepper finish. A big banana flavor persists. Cloves. Vanilla. Finishes mild.

Incredibly well done and not that different from the 18 and 23 year versions.

Good marketing sells. Neat bottle. Looks fancy. Didn’t taste like good rum. Kirk nor Sweeney are releasing quality aged rum.

Nice bottle exterior but dull taste. Also a little too much alcohol in the taste.
But definitely not bad.

Good bottle, looks and feels nice in your hand. Oaky on the nose with hints of vanilla, Nice.

The aroma and taste is less complex than older brothers, but also for much lower prive, so value is still bery good. Typical wood and vanilla with caramel. Not bad, but also nothing special.
