Foursquare 2008 12-Year

Rhum exceptionnel, on sent le force des 60 degrés, mais le goût est d une puissance inégalée. Du foursquare condensé !
Top du top. Seul les débutants devraient s abstenir, car la puissance alcoolique est plus pour les experts. Mais c est le meilleur foursquare que je connaisse. Note 9.4.
Par contre derrière on ne peut pas goûter un autre rhum car il en écrasé le goût des autres.

Another bottle selected as part of our WSET II tasting practice at home (see, this is what happens when rum nerds try and do tastings at home...). Due to 60% ABV notes were made with water added to open up the flavours and not kill my palate.

Appearance: Clear, medium Amber
Nose: Clean, medium+ intensity. Start of Caramel, floral notes (rose?), apricot, cocoa, marzipan, sun warmed peaches, mandarin orange, baking spices, and a hint of sage.
Palate: Clean dry, medium intensity. Toasted coconut, caramel and toffee, dried apricot, peach, prunes, milk chocolate, dried fig, sage, cloves. Long finish, very complex
Conclusion: Outstanding.

Rum je stařený 12 let v sudech po bourbonu.
Vyrobeno 27 000 lahví (12 000 EU a 15 000 USA).

Aroma: Vanilka, pražené mandle, bourbonovitost a máslové sušenky. Vůně je ostřejší, procenta jsou opravdu znát
Chuť: Vanilka a nálož opáleného dřeva. Překvapivě jemná
Dozvuk: Opět dubové dřevo, karamel, vanilka a sušené ovoce
Sladkost: 0/3

Vynikající rum a neskutečně jemná sudovka. Porovnával jsem s Nobiliary, který u mě těsně zvítězil

Aroma: Pronikavé a ostré - bourbonovitost, vanilka, dřevo, závan nakyslého ovoce, kokos.
Chuť: Vanilka a velká porce nahořklého dřeva.
Dozvuk: Opět dominující dřevní taniny s vanilkou. Velmi dlouhý

Full bodied flavor similar to bourbon but with that rum funk, the proofing being much higher than most aged rums does come through stronger than it would in bourbon, but still a tasty sipper. Worth the money for sure

As with any of the latest Foursquare offerings, 2008 packs a huge amount of flavor. At 60% ABV, it’s also got a lot of heat, but the initial nose isn’t as alcohol forward as the 2007 expression.

Notes of oak, molasses and fruit come to the front, and afterward, spice and vanilla.

The first sip hits the palate with spice and fruit, with a health burn, which can be expectation this ABV%. The fruit lingers along with the burn and ends with a caramel/vanilla fruit finish.

In all honesty, I’ve yet to try a Foursquare expression I didn’t like; it’s just a matter of preference, but there’s a lot to be said about rum that has all these amazing flavors and no additives. Get a bottle, you won’t be disappointed!

PS. This one is best served neat. It’s nice with a single ice cube, but it loses a little dimension with ice.

Tasted it side by side with 2007, and this is slightly better in all parametres I think. Stronger deep nose, more round taste and a fantastic aftertaste. 9.5!

The smoothest overprood I ever tasted. Well rounded burn with salty caramel taste, cocoa and vanilla. Very complex and enjoyable.
