Schönes Bernstein im Glas.
In der Nase geschmeidig und intensiv. Kandierte Früchte die schon einige Tage in einem ledernen Tabakbeutel verstaut waren erfreuen sich der frischen Luft . Zarte Karamelltöne und Holznoten spielen eine vertraute Melodie.
Am Gaumen tief und mehrschichtig. Tropische Früchte, Banane, Mango, Papaya und Blumen baden in einem grossen Holzzuber gefüllt mit Karamell, Leder, Tabak und ein Quietscheentchen plantscht mit.
Im Abgang lang und befriedigend. Blumen und Früchte werden zuerst welk, danach verabschiedet sich Karamell und Holz, die Ente bleibt bis zuletzt.
Ein toller Bajan Rum mit schönem Tiefgang, ein so richtiger Rum ! Für Einsteiger, Fortgeschrittene, Geniesser und alle die, die die Seele des Rum entdecken möchten.

Beautiful amber in the glass.
In the nose smooth and intense. Candied fruits that have been stowed for several days in a leather tobacco pouch enjoy the fresh air . Delicate caramel tones and wood notes play a familiar tune.
Deep and multilayered on the palate. Tropical fruits, banana, mango, papaya and flowers bathe in a big woody tub filled with caramel, leather, tobacco and a squeaky duck splashes along.
The finish is long and satisfying. Flowers and fruit wilt first, then caramel and wood say goodbye, the duck stays until last.
A great Bajan rum with nice depth, such a proper rum ! For beginners, advanced, connoisseurs and all those who want to discover the soul of rum.

On the nose, starts off with aromas of toffee, dark chocolate, butterscotch and musty oak. There is also wisps of herbal and floral notes, damp earth and ash smoke. On the palate, a lovely syrupy concoction of caramelised banana, ripe pineapple, burnt sugar, tobacco, cedar, a bit of tar, before a long lasting strong roasted cacao note in the finish.

Funky, rustic, complex and absolutely delicious rum. Super unique!

This was one of the first offerings by the new female Master Distiller. Old school 100% pot still reminded me of some Jamaican rums. A bit harder to drink heavier esters but a very good rum well worth trying given the opportunity.

Mount Gay Distillery has produced excellent rums. MGXO (not the Triple Cask one) has been one of my all-time favorite. MG Master Selection, in my humble opinion, is slightly better but the high at 5 times t(e price of the old MGXO, it is hard to justify the purchase.

Today I am sampling the Mount Gay 2009 Master Blender Collection Pot Still 10-Year. The nose is so appealing and unique, altogether different than other Bajan rums I hava had so far. My first sip, however, is disappointing, perhaps for the hype surrounding this rum. It is definitely a complex and smooth rum at 48% ABV but it does not WOW me the way MGXO, Master Sélect or Foursquare rums does. At $199.99 USD I will pass on this one.
