I bought a bottle of this for $30 US. Which is in the low price end of decent rum.
This was a really pleasant surprise.
The nose is very pleasant with no ethanol. Not particularly strong. Notes of citrus and caramel.
Unusual flavor... in a good way. Perhaps it's the power of suggestion, but there are definitely nice notes of "Cognac Oak", not sure how else to describe it. It is dry without being too dry. Lots of dried fruit flavors (without the sweetness).
The finish is long and reminds me of the aftertaste of dry sherry with some smoky notes lingering at the end of the finish.

Au nez un peu boisé, au goût noisette caramel et vanille. Il a une longue finale. Vraiment un rhum âgé (un peu cher) mais qui est vraiment. Je rachèterais une bouteille si ce n était pas du prix élevé.

Definitely worth adding to the rum cabinet. Very smooth, almost no bite, great flavor, but not complex. A little sweeter than my favorites. Just compared to Trouvadore, and I judge them equal. Great, but not spectacular.

I'm still new to rum drinking, but it seems unlikely to me that Foursquare would blend their rum with an African rum, but they did, and I like it. I'm not sure exactly how to describe it, but I'd say it tastes like a mix of Pasador de Oro Gran Reserva with a bit more bite and extra flavor like you'd expect from adding Foursquare to the mix. The woody notes from Foursquare are definitely present, and mixed with what I perceive to be a spanish solera type rum from Mauritius. I think I paid something like $43 for it, definitely a good value.

La complessiva leggerezza, il fruttato profumo che dona piacere e, anzitutto, l'esplosione delle note d'arancia sono le caratteristiche del Rum Equiano Original 8 Year.

There's a lot going on here, as you might expect from a rum blended from opposite sides of the world. Fruit, vanilla, caramel, hint of dry spice, and of the cognac barrel really comes through
Nose: Ripe plums meet apples fallen from the tree. In addition, a fresh scent of mown grass.
In the mouth develops an explosion of flavors.
Dominant are ripe wild berries that meet soft raisins. The kind of raisins you pick out of a cake.
On the finish, an abundance of never-ending fruitiness of blueberries and those little wild strawberries. This rum offers a perfect melange of Mauritius and Barbados.
The 43% is perfect for this rum.
It was unfortunately only a sample, but the big bottle is at the top of my list
Vanilla, light toffee and some gently oak. .
"A really nice balance between the sweet citrus notes and the spicy oak notes."
