Abuelo XII Two Oaks

If you don't mind: if there are just 14 mountains 8000+ then there could be top 14 extraordinary brands/sources/styles of rum. Definitely, one of them is Abuelo/Panama peak of the Joy.

Anejo:
Banana mamma on the nose; rotten fruits, licorice and Indian spice kick. Could the best of all Anejos.

Two Oaks:
Just great, phenomenal. A bit tart what is rare. Perfectly balanced. Oak is hidden/transformed into something new. Less sweet compared to XV Oloroso, more smooth than 12yo.

A truly pleasant rum. I was alarmed at first by the initial burn on the palate, but it turned out to be a nice rum with a great smell and taste. I would buy again.

Smells exactly like fancy molasses but thankfully doesnt taste as sweet. Obviously tastes of oak with a hint of spice I couldnt narrow down. Would probably buy an entire bottle if I could find one. Not quite an eight in my books.

Boring rum. Can't feel something interesting in this rum. Not for me

Dense, each molecule is infused with flavor. Incredibly soft, pleasantly smoky, fresh and perfectly balanced.

It should be an "improved" version of the classic 12, only this one was aged in two types of barrels. Firstly in Jack Daniel's bourbon barrels and then in oak barrels that have been fired before. The smoky notes are quite noticeable in the rum.

Bottle: Classic Abulelo shape in a brown shade. Wooden cap with cork.

Colour: Dark amber

Nose: Quite strong and sweet. The main ingredients are fruit, vanilla, wood and smoke.

Flavour: Sweet and sour, juicy but mild. Quite strong citrus, tropical fruits, vanilla and some woody notes, when the taste goes slightly to whisky (to dryness).

Finish: Medium-long.

Conclusion: This is a good and not over-sweetened rum from Abuelo. However, I'm not sure if it's better than the classic 12, which I probably liked a bit more.
