Foursquare 2005 Nobiliary 14-Year

Pro mne osobně malé zklamání. Čekal jsem větší rozmanitost chutí nebo aspoň náznak něčeho výraznějšího než chuť lihu. Na první ochutnání jsem cítil je sílu lihu, přesto, že jsem měl rum nalitý ve skleničce více jak hodinu. Snad při druhém ochutnávání to bude podstatně lepší, i přes to dostává vysoké hodnocení, což následně upravím.

This was initially easier to drink than Shibboleth. It will be interesting to see how this evolves over time since the bottle has been opened. I let it sit for about 20 minutes before my tasting.

Nose: Vanilla, brown sugar, molasses, coconut, mint, and a slight acetone. A very pleasant nose overall.
Palate: It's sweeter than Shibboleth with hints of molasses, baking spices (primarily cinnamon), pepper, wood, burnt sugar, and a buttery creaminess.
Finish: A pretty long and pleasant finish with tobacco, wood, and a nice dryness.

Overall, I enjoyed this Mark from Foursquare. I still find myself preferring the 2008 over all of the other ex-bourbon cask Marks. If we could give this fractional ratings, this would have been an 8.5.

Needs to stay at least 30-60 min before drinking, but then it is also very tasty, classic Barbados taste.

Nobiliary is a 14 year old ex-bourbon matured rum from Foursquare distillery 🇧🇧, bottled at 62%ABV.

On the nose I get candied cherry, ginger, oak, light coconut, plum, strawberry, lemon and vanilla.

The palate is candied strawberry, cream, pepper, ginger, oak, apricot, orange, mint and sour.

The finish is mint, kiwi, raisin, chocolate, almond, light oak and cola.

This one is interesting - you would expect it to be very similar to the vintage releases (ex-bourbon, but just a couple more years of maturation) but I find the candied cherry/strawberry notes really pop with this one (one of my favourite notes from Foursquare and a note that I occasionally also find in a good American whiskey). I would attribute good casks and blending to the final result. Wonderful rum, this is getting very close to the qualify of some of the Velier releases I've had the pleasure of sampling.

Rigtig rigtig lækker rom. Bedste rom jeg har smagt i lang tid. Normalt ikke til rom uden tilsat sukker, men de rammer den virkelig her..

Dlhšie som si zvykal a z tejto rady nebol na predných priečkach, no čím dlhšie s ho popíjal,tým viac zaujal. Jemné korenie, ovocie i karamel, dlhý záver ako málokedy. Tento rum je extratrieda

Great quality but for me too long in the cask - bourbon-like with some virgin oak influence?
Nevertheless it is a quality intense mature rum
A serious one for the armchair in front of the fire

Aroma: Výrazná ovocná nakyslost, kokos, bourbonovitost, vanilkový cukr
Chuť: Ovocná, svíravá, jemná
Dozvuk: Ananas, spálený karamel a dřevíčko. Dlouhý

Z porovnání s 2008 vyšel Nobiliary jako vítěz. Je jemný, uhlazený a ovocný, díky čemuž působí nasládle. Rum bez jediného kazu.
Edit 11.1.2022 (lahev): Ve vůni mokré zatuchlé dřevo, tropické ovoce (banán, ananas, kokos), bourbonovitost, vanilka. Chuť je medově karamelově hutná, lehounce dřevitá. V dozvuku spousta dřeva, hořký karamel, sušené ovoce mísící se s další dřevitostí. Plný a dlouhý.
Porovnání s Shibboleth: Nobiliary je ovocnější, Shibolleth sladší a jemnější. Oba 10/10.

Bought this to complete my "vertical" tasting of Foursquare. The 10, 12, and 14 are all phenomenal, but this one is perfect. Rich oak, caramel, spice, more oak, and vanilla for long ways.
