Title pretty much says it all for me. More of a golden color than amber. Sweet but not too bad. Alcohol burn is moderate (i drink and rate only on drinking neat) so an ice cube or two may help a bit. Certainly not bad but just a good ordinary rum that is a good value. For the same price I will take the Plantation 5 year Barbados every time.

All of the Plantation rums are good, and bring great value, since they are not expensive.

- Vůně - pach divokého zvířete, pižmo, melasa, banán
- Chuť - dub, vanilka
- Celkově - Chutná mi méně méně než Grand. Reserve a také tolik nevoní - 6

Light aroma, taste is a bit sweet on beginning but later with some slight wildness (esters, wood). Not much complex and aftertaste could be longer, but for fair price.

If you like white chocolate.. go for it.. That is the only thing I enjoyed. Other that that it was a bit sharp in a nose and the taste was somehow flat a after taste surprisingly short. Good to have shot or two but not a all night sipping buddy ;)

Not a typical rum, but nice in summer
Nose: Nice in Snifter. Dried fruits and withered flowers.

Palate: Burned fruits, warm, long lasting, well balanced taste. Very smooth, no burn. Just as Rum should be for me. I only miss some more hints of oak.
Dosage (sugar) 16gpl

While not the best rum I've had even in it's price range you shouldn't pass up on the chance to try this rum. a sweet mildly aged spirit isle of fiji will be my go to bottle for the next couple of months at least

On the nose I smell typical Jamaican (and St Lucia) traits, overripe funky banana with pineapple juice and varnish, as if distilled in copper pot still, not overpowering, quite pleasant, the rum body is very young and burning, continuation of the banana-pineapple mix, very simple, with added sugar (some 20 gpl is my guess) which basically makes the aftertaste muddled and less prominent. The scent is best, taste and aftertaste quite simple. The added sugar does not do much good here, without sugar and with 25% less price it would be an entertaining mixer, for this price and with the sugar, well, it is kind of superfluous. If you got Chairmans Reserve at hand, add some sugar and here you go - you got something close to, but even better than this. It is best when mixed with coke, but so is J Wray Gold for 2./3 of the price.

Plantation's Isle of Fiji rum is EXTREMELY similar to their Xaymaca bottling. However, this rum has notes of spice that its sister rum doesn't accentuate as much. I find that, in cocktails, I prefer this in sours, due to the spice's ability to cut through, versus Xaymaca's sweetness.
