Mount Gay XO Triple Cask

Beautiful colour. Some spice, fig and dried fruit on the nose. So good so far. Same flavours continue on the tongue. But they are masked by a strongish alcohol taste which leaves your tongue a bit dry. It's compounded by the dryness of the rum. Perhaps good for others but not for me. Neat I didn't enjoy. On the rocks was sippable. Mixed with ginger beer was quite enjoyable. Stick with the regular XO.

Pred časom som skúšal lacnejší Black Barell, už ten ma oslovil krásnou vôňou a síce jednoduchým, no správne vychuteným telom. Fľaša XO-čka je rovnaká, len s odlišnou etiketou, farba je o poznanie tmavšia. Vôňa po otvorení znovu krásne drevitá, pri 43% voltáži trochu zaštípe v nose. Ihneď po otvorení som v pozadí zacítil lepidlo, no to po relatívne krátkej dobe vyprchalo. Chuťovo sa tento typ skutočne vydaril, znova dominuje popri dube koža, med, karamel a snáď aj orechy, oproti lacnejšiemu súrodencovi mi príde trochu sladší a zároveň komplexnejší. Koniec dlhší, pastva pre jazyk, krásne hrajú jednotlivé tóny. Drink je až nečakane jemný, nie je problém dať naraz viac pohárikov. Presne toto mi na rume vyhovuje. Kiežby bola nižšieuvedená cena (na úrovni Diplomatica RE) štandard - žiaľ toto bola len mimoriadna akcia miestneho obchodníka (25%). Palec hore!

In my region, PNW this bottle is one of the best deals you can get on a bottle of rum, it's one of my go to's!!

Taste great on ice. Smooth but not the smoothest. Def taste of cognac

trying it now along with the old version xo reserve cask, the old one just a decilter
left in the bottle, both rums sat in the glass half hour,
the old version in the nose less alcohol burn (almost empty bottle, opened around
9 months ago, so a little bit oxidized ?),
but in the mouth triple cask is better than the older one, less spices, more fruits, vanilla,
a lot of apricot, in the old version some little bitterness, here disappeared,
same abv of 43 %, if the old i gave 8, this one is around 9,5 for me !
just this is a little bit more expensive that the older one ...its the most fruity rum i ve tried so far, no additives, sorry if some people dont recognize the quality...
but ok blend of 5 to 17 old rum aged in ex American whiskey, ex bourbon and
ex cognac barrels, if we take quality/price, my rating will be a 10 !
their master select cost almost 3 times more, is it better ? yes but not 3 times better ...

Strong smoke and dry fruit aroma, a bit less intense than expected in taste. Noticable bitter aftertaste

Looking forward to trying this one, but felt a bit underwhelming. Might just be that I am not picking up all the flavours due to covid...

It is however a very nicely balanced rum. Fruity and leatbery nose, notes of candy and sherry with some prickly spice and coffee.

I'm not into dry rums, I've read a lot about it and considered it for a long time, in the end I risked it. If I already have some rum in me, I like it, but otherwise it's really dry and I don't enjoy it like other goodies. They are also harder to find. But it's gentle, even slightly sweet, maybe I'll get to these rums in time.

Nejsem na suché rumy, o tom jsem hodně četl a dlouho zvažoval, nakonec jsem to riskl. Pokud už v sobě mám trochu rumu, chutná mi, ale jinak je opravdu suchý a nevychutnám si ho, jako ostatní dobroty. Taky se hůř shání. Ale jemný je, i lehce nasládlý, možná k těmto rumům časem dospěju.
