A good blend of flavors the distinct after burn is a good match to the up front smooth taste
Finally get to try the new Mount Gay Triple Cask Blend!
Have been waiting for some time to compare this with its predecessor (MGXO) which happened to be one of my all-time favourite rum.
It had been a while since I sipped on MGXO and upon nosing the Triple Cask I immediately recognized the MGXO signature. It is, however, a slightly different blend and although I am enjoying it Ido prefer the MGXO. Will definitely keep a few of these on hand but I wish the MGXO was still available.
I had this side by side with the "Black Barrel" at the Germans 10. Rumfestival in Berlin. Good quality at a fair price and added complexity compared to his brother. Therefore it gets 1 point extra from me.
Fantastic sweet smell on the nose.fantastic taste hints of caramel dark chocolate. Goes down smooth and dry without burn a great rum
Beautiful caramel color. Vanilla, caramel, and spices on the nose. Wonderful notes of sweetness, spice, and oakiness on the tongue with a nice charred flavor on the finish. Great sipper! I’ll be looking forward to adding this to my collection.
I had this by accident at a rum tasting party thought it was XO until I tasted it subtle but noticeable difference more depth and quite smooth. Highly recommend. This is a great rum for the money. 43% alcohol yet quite smooth with deep lingering flavors.
This is full bodied and has the bottom notes I’m looking for in a sipper. Vanilla, cocoa, dates yum!
I always walk into these multi-cask blends a little jaded, because there are some really awful ones out there, but this one is nice. Drinking it in a small rocks glass with a single ice cube really opened it up. The note is definitely fruity, with raisin and coconut popping up as the dominant aromas for me. It middles with a moderately (but definitely not uncomfortably) smoky burn. The oak nips at you on the back end. All in all, this was a pleasant sipper.
On the nose: intensely dark, brandy with some nougat and lightly burnt caramel, subtle molasses, some marzipan in dark chocolate, some espresso with roasted nuts.
On the palate: nougat, chocolate, spices, marzipan, nuts, caramel, alcohol.
In the finish: spices, some oak, marzipan and dark chocolate, nougat.
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label
