66.4% ABV. Jamaican pot-still rum, aged 8 years in (probably) ex-bourbon barrels, and finished for 1 year in Islay whiskey barrels (hence the name). This has gotta be Hampden (or possibly Long Pond). Great Jamaican nose. Rotten fruits, like cherry. Then just a little smoke on the finish. I don't really go for the Hampden profile (or peated malts), but this is unquestionably super interesting rum, smartly matured.

While I was looking forward to trying this one I was a little put off by the price. That said, while I still think it's a little high it's definitely an interesting rum with it not only being aged in bourbon barrels but whisky barrels as well. Even though it has a high ABV it goes down remarkably easy drinking it neat with notes of dried fruit and banana coming though. If you add a few drops of water it opens up the whisky and fruit as well as fruit even more. I'll definitely look for this distiller again!
