The bottle looks different, flat, square, very old and three years on it, the rum is too harsh strong alcohol on nose and in the mouth, dry, liquorice is the main flavor, tried it in the bar of the hotel we staying, it s the only aged rum they offer, must find other places to try something better while we staying in mauritius ....

Celkom zaujímavý rum Chamarel,cítil som náznaky koňaku. Je suchšie,nenadchol výrazne, ale rozhodne neurazil.

sugar cane juice. dry.
i smell pear, vanilla and some grassy notes.
i taste banana, honey, vanilla. some smokey elements. creamy. almond.
7/10.
a fresh and naughty rhum. if you like this, taste the VSOP. it costs a few bucks more, but definitley worth it!
if you have to choose, choose the VSOP!

This one is dry, quite well balanced, a bit to strong on first smell.
Not as good as VSOP from Chamarel which is for me the best one you could get in Chamarel, and best quality for your money, not the best in Mauritius...

Visited the distillery in Mauritius which was great. Very clean product (rum agricole directly distillery from freshly pressed sugar cane) In my opinion would benefit from additional aging. A bit too much bite for my taste. Excellent restaurant at the distillery though! What better way to sample all their rums than with a lovely warm chocolate fondant 😋 Highly recommended.

I like the Colour and smell. You can definitely say it's a well balanced rum once you smell it and the sugar ratio is good. It's not too thick and easy to drink. You can feel it is slightly spicy but not too much like the the 15yo el dorado. Also it behaves slightly like a whisky or a Cognac as the making process is similar for the xo and all old rums and single barrel at Chamarel. Truly a good choice and my second favorite rum after Diplomatico 2000 which is completely the opposite

After visiting Mauritius and visiting the Chamarel rummerie, it was only right to return the faviour and buy a couple of bottles. Excellent drink to drink neat or with ice.

Similar to Ron Zacapa 23 but not as sweet. Probably best enjoyed in Mauritius!!
