Philippines | Aged | 40% ABV
Don Papa Small Batch Rum is produced by the Bleeding Heart Rum Company on the southern island of Negros in the Philippines. The rum is distilled from molasses, then aged for over 7 years in American oak barrels, and lastly charcoal filtered.
The name Don Papa rum was inspired by Papa Isio, a leader of the Philippine revolution against the Spanish who led his island to independence before joining the main revolutionary movement.

Μου έχει κάνει εντύπωση το άρωμα βανίλιας που έχει γιατί με τα αρώματα βανίλιας δεν τα πάω καλά
This is possibly the worst rum I have ever tasted, certainly in the bottom five.
Sweet with an overbearing fake vanillin flavor that permeates and fights with new American oak notes in the finish. The sweetness is more of a chemically saccharine sweetness rather than a cloying sugar sweetness.
There is no enjoyment to be derived from this artificial tasting concoction. It cannot be mixed with anything to try to cover up the terrible tase.
At a price of about $11 per bottle, it is $12 overpriced. I do not recommend this. I would pour it down the toilet, but that would not be fair to the toilet.
It has the nice christmassy smell of the box my grandma had for baking ingredients. Vanilla, candied citrus fruits, buttery cookie dough. My wife likes it but it's too sweet for my taste.
This one doesn’t even really taste like rum with all of the added sugar and other additives. Very disappointing.
If you "don't like" rum and want to start, than Don Papa is the right choice! Even with 40%vol. it has a soft various taste.
I wouldn’t buy this again. Fruity and annoying taste, you either love it or not. Maybe for some beginners
They use additives, cloying cheap sweeteners, some kind of pruny syrup probably for coloring which absolutely adulterated the taste. I have only 2 thoughts: rum is just disitllled molasses beer and used barrels. How the heck do people think this is a good idea and 2. Like... Didn't they taste it? Or, man, maybe they did and somehow this tastes good. Thankfully I just bought a pout or I'd be sad as I dumped this overboard.
I've had this rum multiple times and yes, I can confirm that it is certainly very sweet and heavy on vanilla but it's also very enjoyable if you like those flavours. If you're the sort of person that enjoys bumbu rum, you will love don papa as it's the same flavors just executed better.
At the beginning of my rum journey I thought this was great. After trying a few rums I've now noticed that this tastes unnaturally sweet, is also overprice and over-hyped (at least where I'm from).

Smells a lot like a vanilla and lemonade ice cream float.
"For all its sweet sugariness, its really very drying and bitter on the palate once it all settles down."
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

Notes d'agrumes prononcées et assez sucrées. Ne plaira pas à tout le monde.
