Trinidad and Tobago | Aged | 40% ABV | Column Still (5+) Distilled
Zaya Gran Reserva Rum is a blend of molasses-based rums distilled in a five-column still and aged in white oak barrels for up to 12 years.
Zaya rum was initially distilled by Industrias Licoreras de Guatemala in Guatemala. The brand was acquired in 2008 by Infinium Spirits and is now produced in Trinidad and distilled by Angostura.

Aromatic notes of vanilla, caramel, with hints of banana and cocoa.
The palate is an initial taste of vanilla, cocoa and brown sugar, with a medium-sweet bodied with hints of oak and orange spice.
This one is easy to drink, and easy to like. Brown sugar all the way. Want to get your friends hooked on rum? Zaya. Great bottle too.
Price jumped in the past year or so as it really caught on in the northeast, but it's still worth it.
Zaya Gran Reserva may be the best rum Trinidad has on offer. Very rich and quite heavy on the vanilla, this rum has superb complexity of flavor in the nose and on the palette. Perhaps best finish of any rum I've tasted (including Ron Zacapa 23 Solera). Here in New York, the price point makes it an incredible value.
Nice as a dessert rum, very sweet (heavy vanilla in particular) and smooth. Can't have more than one or two, though. Can taste the Trini/Angostura influence through and through, as this is basically 1919 with more vanilla and a bit more oak.
This is another favorite of mine, almost on the same level as Diplomatico. This was my first top shelf rum, so it's safe to say it got me interested in the world of rum. It's very smooth, almost no burn, and hints of caramel, vanilla, and oak.
enjoy this cold
Never go wrong with that Rum neat or on the rocks.
Vanilla, floral, great finish

Zaya is a rum I love to go to when I want richness with a hint of spice and nothing more. Not much complexity but still a great rum on it's own. In cocktails the strength and taste holds up but without complexity it becomes just a backbone.
