Great your open bar party with a lot of guests. not only because of the price but because of the flavor too. Again only a mixer.

This is genuinely better than Captain Morgan's (and the Black Patch is better than Sailor Jerry's), while being significantly cheaper. It's sweet, but not overmuch, and is nicely spiced with cinnamon and vanilla predominating, but not overmuch. It's balanced, and if drank straight, has none of the fusel booziness associated with cheap liquors.

This is the most pleasantly-surprising well liquor I've ever had - enough so that I asked the bartender what she was using and then picked up a fifth for $7.

As another reviewer aptly noted: 'If I were throwing a party with a lot of guests who really don’t care as long as the drinks are good, I would bring the Admiral to the bar by the gallon.'

I drink to that.

I'm a BJCP beer judge, not a spirits taster, so take it for what it's worth. I prefer scotch and rum, and dislike vodka, gin, tequila, and most liqueurs. I like mezcal, though.

Very simplistic flavor. Slightly sweet & powerful vanilla flavor. Overall crappy. You can do so much better than this. Don't bother.

Try it with milk. Just try it, if you need a mixer.

If you handed this to me and told me it was supposed to be spiced I would tell you were lying. Too much burn for 70 proof, something I would expect from a 100 proof spirit. It's missing the spice and its a no go for me.

Great vanilla nose, decent spice flavor, but too much of an alcohol burn. Very much like rubbing alcohol. I would use only as a mixer.

Admiral Nelson’s Premium Spiced rum is 35% ABV / 70 proof. Not wicked strong. $20 for a plastic 1.75 Liter bottle. It’s nice enough and smooth, light and sweet, and might be compared to Capt. Morgan Original Spiced rum, which has a sugary chocolate flavor. Adm Nelson is for mixing. “Lady Bligh spiced” is better neat because of its lighter balance of hot flavors and less sugar heaviness.

Not the rum you wanna sit at home with and think about life with. Great and cheap when you need rum for the.party and some said please bring some rum and you realize you only have $10 in your pocket. DO NOT drink neat. You have been warned. Good in mixers. Best with mr. Pibb just saying.

Looking for something cheap to mix with, here ya go. It will do the job. Not a rum to grab if you are looking for complexity though.

I have been overlooking the Admiral for some time, it’s always on the bottom shelf with the other rums trying to lure you in with a pirate wench on the bottle. I finally tried it and to my delight it was pretty good. I would say the best I’ve had from the economy line. A bit heavy on the vanilla perhaps but all in all not a bad rum for a mixer. I enjoyed a few drinks with no ill effect the next morning. If I were throwing a party with a lot of guest who really don’t care as long as the drinks are good, I would bring the Admiral to the bar by the gallon.
