Hi!

I like Bumbu XO very much but it is available only in specific stores, also, seems a bit too expensive for a mundane sipping. Maybe someone could suggest similar rums, probably at a lower price point? Saw an opinion somewhere that Appleton Estate 8YO is a very good dupe, but not so sure about that.

Thanks in advance :)

Appleton 8 is in many ways different from Bumbu XO. Their flavor profiles have only small overlap. It's hard to come by with something very similar and cheaper, maybe it would be easier to give you a recommendation of you say what specifically you like about Bumbu XO.

Try to find a Malteco Tripple 1 or 10/15 yo, it's like the Bumbu XO (19 gr./l sugar) from Panama (old bottlings still from Guatemala), just with less sugar. You might also like a Diplomatico or a Millonario.

Botafogo Gold Spiced is a bit similar and very very sweet. Riise rums should fit your pallet as well but are usually more expensive. Also plain old Cpt. Morgan (Gold Spiced or Prvt Stock) can do if you're on a budget.
