As per subject, I am designing a two-layer shelf for my rum bottles. I was thinking of 40cm for the lower shelf and 35 for the one above. But looking at the bottles I have I would not need so much height. What are the tallest bottles I can expect, anything above 35cm that you guys know of?

The tallest bottle I currently have in my collection is 35cm, and I believe I have seen others taller. Personally wouldn't make the shelf smaller than 38cm just to provide that inch of wiggle room. though 40 and 35 would be fine as not many bottles are that tall.

My tallest bottles are: Clairin Casimir and Berry's with 35 cm and Plantation with 33 cm.

I built my second rack part with 36 cm, because I have problems with certain bottles with the first part with 33 cm. I find 36 cm lowest limit for the distance.

Thank you! And yeah, bottles alone, no boxes. So I could even bring it down to sth like 30/35.

Every bottle I have is below 33 cm. I think that if you are not going for Magnum editions (which are rare) you will be good with 35-40 cm slots. Keep in mind, however, that you will not be able to store the rum boxes, only the bottles. My tallest box is 43cm tall.
