I haven't yet tried a rum from the Foursquare Distillery and my choices are limited in local stores to Doorly's XO, Doorly's 12 or RL Seale's 10YO.  The three have similar reviews and ratings and I don't know the best choice...feel free to chime in, anyone who's familiar with these rums.

I always keep a bottle of Doorly's XO on hand. If the store is out of it, Doorly's 8 Year is almost as good for about the same price. As for the other two that you asked about, I only tried one bottle of each and that was enough. The R.L. Seale 10 Year tastes too much like bourbon and his 12 Year is even worse with bourbon notes. My only bottle of Doorly's 12 Year was almost 3 years ago in Las Vegas. I swore never again because of too much bourbon notes and bitterness.

I also always keep a bottle of Real McCoy 12 Year on hand. It costs about twice as much as Doorly's, but I think that it is worth the money.

Thanks for the tip, I also dislike bourbon/rum hybrids...there's nothing wrong with bourbon but I'll go with Woodford Reserve or Four Roses, thank you.  Some rums aged in bourbon casks take on heavy flavors while others don't, strangely...I've got a bottle of Mount Gay Black Barrel I rated rather poorly for just that reason, though it's grown on me since. I've searched for a splurge bottle of The Real McCoy but there's none to be had locally...I was already leaning towards the Doorly's XO and that's what it'll be! Plus it's $10 cheaper than the 12YO.

I picked up a bottle of Doorly's XO today and it will be my go-to rum, it's not really remarkable but it's quite tasty on rocks and should be a good mixer.  At $26 it's more than fairly priced for very good stuff.  Thanks for the heads-up, it's right in my comfort zone for great taste and great price.
