I am headed to Puerto Rico next week, planning on the Ron Del Barillito tour. Any tips or ideas?  Staying in San Juan

Ron Del Barillito is by far the funnest tour but there are some smaller ones that would be great to visit and within range.  1. San Juan Artisan Distillery (call ahead of time)

How did the distilleries weather the recent hurricane? I noticed my local TWM is way low on Don-Q! Maybe unrelated. (Though Bacardi seems to be an unending supply....)

There are some good distilleries there but do the tourist thing first at Bacardi. This will definitely elevate the trip to those other distilleries and it's not all that bad for an industrial distillery.

I so am back and did Barrilito and Visited the bar at Scryer in Old San Juan. The Barrilito 4star is stunning and got to fill my own bottle. Cool experience. My guide said the RumRatings developer had visited and he is a app user as well. Next trip for some of the out of town small Distillarys. Couldn't bring myself to do Bacardi. Super nice people in PR!

That is awesome, what did you think about their santa ana expression? I think it's one of the most underpriced/underrated rums out there

David, Bacardi  tour is great for tourists and unless u live there your a tourist. When I did PR I did them first and it made the rest of the trip spectacular. And it is grand in the industrial version. They definitely know what they're doing. It's a pleasure to see how such a giant operates. Although you will never find it in my collection.

David, you missed a great tour at Barcardi. Granted they are industrial but you need to cover all aspects of the industry to appreciate those small distilleries. I would not miss Bacardi even though I've already done it. They're like Budweiser, they are massive and obviously know how to put their product on the map. Plus, at the same time, you get to meet people from all walks of life that love rum. Note, I don't drink Bud & you will never find Bacardi in my house but that tour was outstanding. Arrrgh! ☠
