Batten down the hatches big boys! So, I've been to quite a few micro distilleries lately and am quite impressed. It reminds me of the punch the micro breweries have been dishing out to those big beer conglomerates. The most intriguing thing to me is how a micro distillery can produce a 7yr old rum that blows away the 12yr old that those mega distilleries have been shoving down our throats? Makes me curious as to how truthful these big boys really are? I can't wait to see these micro distilleries when they're 20yrs old. If they keep this game up those giants will be hitting the high seas real quick just like those big beer companies are doing right now! See my review on Thomas Tew's reserve. At only a mere 7yrs old it Kicks the bottom out of almost every 12yrold mass produced rum I've ever had. What's up with that?

Thanks for bringing tis up. Nothing wrong with competition. Recently purchased Worthy Park single cane estate for almost 40 euros and this stuff was a joke. They should be embarrassed except I am the one embarrassed because I spent the money. Micro distilleries may care more about the rum more than they do the marketing and fancy bottles. The more competition, the better for us rum enthusiasts.

I also have run into the same situation. Still, the competition is worthy and some out there are worthy! I have taken a liking to Thomas Tew. Those guys are doing a fantastic job and will become noteworthy to say the least. Check my review for them. On the other hand South Hollow, Cape Cod, was terrible and a complete rip off. But that's part of the journey! Cheers! ☠⛵
