My sampling started with Selve Rey owners reserve, spectacular, next Abuelo XV port finish, predictably good, then LaFavorite la Fibuste, perfume for the mouth truly outstanding, finishing with Abuelo XV, as always very good. Night is still young maybe one more later. Update read some reviews and decided to have a nightcap aperitif of A.H.Riise.
I never even knew about World Rum Day until you brought it up. It turns out that World Rum Day was last month, always falling on the second Saturday in July. National Rum Day was yesterday, always falling on August 16th.
Since this was not enough of a special ocassion for me, I left my bottle of Selvarey Owner's Reserve in the back of my shelf, saving it for really special occasions. At almost $7 US per ounce, I think twice about having some.
So, last night, I was in the mood for a couple of good cheap rums. I started off with Diplomatico Planas, which I now consider to be my favorite white rum. Then I switched to El Dorado 8 Year, both of them served neat. No regrets on these two.
Siri, thinks World rum day is August 16th, that only reason I knew, it propagated on my phone. Eldorado 8, interesting I see it and always jump to my go to 12, will have to give it a try Plantation 3 star white is pretty good also. Take care, seems like they have a day for everything, I think the old greeting card companies started it, but currently out of control.
On Rum Day I had Hamilton Guyana 59.1%, Hampden Great House 2021 55% and finally Kill Devil Panama 15 yr 59.8%. Really enjoyed those three!
Nice selection of serious rums Jagsroy.
