Jagsroy,

The Cuban rules says that it's allowed to add maximum 15gpl if I remember right.

Of those I've tasted I'm pretty sure that the Havana Club Selection de Maestros has no added sugar.

There is a website by Captain Jimbo called rumproject.com that have listed most of the test results there is out there when it comes to added sugar. A result between 0-5 is mostly without any added sugar.

Thank you Stefan. Yes I have tried HC Seleccion de Maestro and enjoy it. I believe it has something like 5-6 gpl, which is fine by me (although I prefer no added sugar at all). The older HC expressions have 10-15 gpl which is too much for my taste and also for my diabetis. If you hear of aged sipping rums with no added sugar let me know. I would like to further my "Cuban Rum" inventory.

Jagsroy,

Check Captain Jimbo's list and you will find some with results below 6 which means that there's no added sugar.

Cause when the sugar content is that low it mustn't necessarily come from added sugar.

Not sure if it's unadultered as you say, but the Eminente Reserva is quite good, dry and not sweet like most Cubans. https://rumratings.com/rum/12213-eminente-reserva-7-year?review_id=104907#alt_review_104907

Thank you Tone. I've never heard of Eminente rum. Will look it up on my next trip to Cuba.

Jagsroy,

On a side note to Cuban Origin Rum with zero additives....  take a good look at Don Pancho rum from Panama.  The Don Pancho 18 is wonderful.  It reminds me of the old fabulous cuban rums from pre 70's when things changed at Havana Club.  Don was a master distiller at Havana Club and rather than compromise the traditions he left after Havana Club sold a 50% interest to Ricard I believe it was.  Don set up shop in Panama where he has his own sugar cane estate and distillery.  It is amazing rum.  If you haven't tried it I think you are in for a treat.   If you can ever get your hands on the limited 30 year old... it's sublime.   Let me know what you think?

That Havana Maestros is excellent especially paired with a fine Cuban cigar.

santiago de cuba 12 costs like the havana seleccion de maestros and if you want a really good one try the santiago 20 yo (but it costs a lot more)
