I’m going on a road trip to Dallas(or Houston) and I’m looking for rum that’s not in my cabinet. Any suggestions for places that have a good stock?

Try any of the locations for Total Wine or Specs, and there are plenty of them in Texas! I no longer have to drive that far to find rums that are not available in my area since Total Wine now has 4 stores in Louisiana. Both companies have excellent websites, so you can check inventory before you arrive.  I have an account with Total Wine and have placed orders for rare rums as far away as 650 miles. Once I received confirmation that my order was filled, then I made the long drive. It is illegal to import or send spirits to Louisiana, but when I want something in life, I am determined like hell to get it! Those long rum running trips are now over with for me.

@Paul B

I don’t drive for rum either. Im here for a Cowboys game. But I thought why not look for some rum. Have u been to Keife and Co. in New Orleans? I’ve bought some nice bottles over there in the past. Thanks for the info.

RumGuy1:

Yes, I used to make a regular stocking up of special rums from the Dominican Republic that only Keife & Company would get for me. However, since his supplier no longer stocks those rums, I quit going there. Parking down there is also quite a bitch, especially since I don't have a smart phone! He is also 50 miles away from where I live. I have it made living on the north shore.

As for the Cowboys, I remember a great T-shirt that a worker was wearing in the DFW airport years ago.  It said, "Jerry drives me to drink!"
