Spirit drinks that have nothing to do with rums...

Well it depends on us what we rate... And if people want to provide the ratings I'd keep it to warn the others with low ratings. On the other hand, clearly, non-cane-based spirits are defenetely not rums and a professional rum site should be clear about this fact.

It's something like the German Rumverschnitt, flavored alcohol with rum. "A small portion of the rum is the basis of the blend. A twentieth (5%) is common, but a little more is also possible. The rest consists partly of water and neutral alcohol." It has something to do with rum. So that nobody goes wrong, I would have rated it too. Although I once had such a bad rum in Curacao that I decided not to rate it. It just tasted like alcohol.

I think it’s ok. It’s a database to share your impressions and experience of a certain rum. Or like kudzey said as a warning. If there are some ingrediencies from the sugar production its ok. I already added rum made from beet-molasses or with parts of rice.

I cant judge about every false rum. The german Rumverschnitt has a lot to do with rum. Because it was invented to be able to sell rum within the german empire despite the protectionist measures for german alcohol. Highly concentrated rum was invented/used. Especially from the Hampden destillery.

Why not? As somebody mentioned, it's database and every database is as good as it's content.

Anyway, if we remove it, people will keep adding it, not aware of our purposes.

There is another thing; as regulations about rums are changing over time and are different in various countries there is no way of doing this right for everybody. With the new EU-regulations some spirits are rum by law in the US and not in the EU and I don't have a clue about what the rules are in various countries in Africa or Asia.

Maybe better to leave it as it is so all rums and rum-inspired spirits can be traced here and exposed for what they are.
