Hi there, from several month ago I've noticed so many new releases of the HC 7yo (i.e., "Skepta", "Tommorowland", "Yanix", "Sneakerness", "Don Patricio"). Those can cost stunningly much. Do you know whether those are some new rums, like single barrles, or just the ordinary 7yo with a fancy label?

Havana Club has so few flavors that a special barrel probably won't play a major role. It's more label marketing. Many collaborations also have no relation to rum. Havana Club is distilled in copper column stills. So there are no strong aromas left and after 7 years there is not much wood influence. It's a mass production.Copper could develop esters in the distillation process, but this is not the case with Havana Club either. Probably their rum distillate has no acid, only the reaction of acid with alcohol can produce esters.I wouldn't care about their special editions, it's just marketing.

Well, this makes me even more surprised that these can sell for so much at auctions. Their marketing is brilliant.

People are crazy about limited things. Sometimes it's the design of a bottle that makes them go crazy.Look at Hampden Birds, OWH to LROK for 500 to 1k.The rum is not special, even their Estate LROK is overpriced for 125.Β

I bought my first bottle of HC7 a few days ago. Just because it had so many reviews...and I didn't want to be the last one to taste it ;). But I find it so lame and artificial...there are sooo many rums for the same price that are much more worthy! Strong marketing. And I don't think any "special limited edition" can do anything to improve the fact...

(but wait, the golden bottle looks so nice!! I will take some time to think it all over again.... ;)))
