I just drank a small glass of Velier's Old Royal Navy Rum with my friend two days ago, so let's say I celebrated it... subconsciously? ;-)

Good and meanwhile a seldom one, my bottle of Royal Navy is empty already but two more are still closed.

How do you compare this one to the second edition?

To the Tiger Shark? Compeletly different blends. The Old Royal is a Caroni based blend, could be something like the real Caroni Navy Rum 100% proof. Too much Caroni influence there, it kills all other flavors. Tiger Shark is Guyana (Enmore) + WP blend, a very good one. If you like WP and Enmore this is the best blend for you. Fruity sweet, but also with some complex flavors like leather, orange zests and medical notes.

So the first edition is a blend composed only from Caroni, am I right?

Not only Caroni, but it killed almost all Jamaica and Guyana flavors. I think it was an 1998 Caroni, a dirty one.

I do not want to open a new thread for this. But can someone tell me whether thre will be a 3rd velier royal navy edition? Do you have any information about this?

My go to has always been Pusser’s and I love this rum with a few back up bottles for special occasions. I have only been able to find the entry level Black Tot black label that was horrid here in the US, the others seem to be very expensive if you can even find them. I wonder if it would be better just to purchase a full flagon at auction? Anyway I celebrate with you.
