Any one in Netherlands want to swap a rum that they regret buying? I've got a clement xo (standard bottle like the rest in their range) which I regret. Took one little tasting glass. Maybe someone likes Agricole rum and has a sweet rum bottle that he wants to swap with me!!??

Kom op!!! Iedereen heeft wel een fles waar hij niet kapot van is. Die Clement is nog vol en heeft mij 65 euro gekost(in Luxemburg). Mijn smaak? Plantation xo 20 anniversary, el dorado 15, zaya 12 year, dictador 20 years, santa theresa 1796 enzovoort. Mag natuurlijk ook aangebroken zijn.Ben benieuwd!

Maybe host a rum tasting party where a bunch of people can bring their regret rums to share? :)

That's not a bad idea Andy! Altough most of them are beer-consumers! That's my luck!๐Ÿ˜’ Since I still consider myself a beginner, I will try the clement again. Maybe I will lean to like it.

Thumbs up!!

Andy.....I'm so jealous that you live "over there" and get a chance to try -or at least have the option to try - all the rums that aren't available over here unless you're willing to pay a ton for shipping. Why, do you think, so many European bottlers don't market in the US? BTW, thanks for creating and running this site! It's a great thing.

Well Beukeboom , then it's a shame we live far apart! One advantage,,,,,,we get to drink the bottle all by ourselves!!!!๐Ÿ˜‰

Actually I'm responsible for my friend liking rum. Let her try some Plantation XO 20, Kirk & Sweeney 23, and Ron Zacapa XO. Now Plantation XO 20 is her favorite.

Coincedentally you mention two of my favorite rums. You can see in my ratings. The zacapa costs 76 euros over here ( on the internet) in local stores it's around 100-120 euro. Mine was a present but it is my nummer one (untill now). I watched some of your ratings and see that we have a preference for the same rums! This coming week i will order the ron quorhum 30y , have you tried that one? Just curious how much you liked it.

Rum choices are quite limited here in Florida. It's worse where my sister-in-law lives in Mississippi but fortunately it is about an hour's drive to New Orleans, Louisiana where there are a much wider variety of rums available for purchase.

Actually I've only been once for the specific purpose of purchasing rum. I did pick up more than I intended. Internet sources recommended several places to go. One store that came up over and over again was Dorignac's which is a family-owned grocery store in Metairie, LA (a suburb of New Orleans). I initially intended to go there first and then try some others including one store specializing in ultra-premium liquors (including rum) but when I got there and saw the huge selection of rums that I simply could not get at home I went a little overboard on the purchases. The majority of the rums that I've sampled have come from the region where I live as well as locations to which I day-trip such as Panama City Beach, FL, Apalachicola, FL, Thomasville, GA, St. George Island, FL. The place with the ultra-premium rums was closed on the day I went. Hopefully the next time I visit my sister-in-law I will be able to go there and check it out. Hopefully can go together in a group so they can drop me off and circle about and pick me up when I am finished. Parking around there is horrendous.
