My favorite rum is Ron Cartavio XO. I like the mellowness and the sweeter molasses overtones. I can't get this anymore around me, so I'm looking for a replacement. I like a sweeter sipping rum that isn't harsh on the throat. I also like Pompero Aniversario, but don't care for Diplimatico. Can any of you offer some suggestions for me to try?

The Cartavio XO has 29 gpl of added sugar. The suggested Zafra 21 Year has only 15 gpl of added sugar, which is less sweet. You did specify "sweeter' which puts you in the classification of sugar bombs or flavored rums. I no longer buy sugar bombs since I have gotten away from rums with added sugar. My one bottle of Cartavio XO had the taste deteriorate badly by the time it was half full, so I never bought that one again. The most popular sugar bombs come from El Dorado, Diplomatico, and Zacapa. The only sugar bomb that I can recommend is Dos Maderas 5+5 with 36 gpl of added sugar.
