No, i am not in search of a coffee flavored rum... But for experts' advice on how to mix the two! Right after rum, my second most beloved liquid ever, is coffee! Cold Espresso or Cold Brew. I also happened upon a Starbucks article recently, on basic suggestions for mixing gin/vodka/even whiskey, into certain coffees or teas, but it didn't cover variety at all. So, since most of you are bar-savvy in general... And given that you research coctail recipes (i myself especially noted Espresso Martini from Dick Bradsell)... Please share your experience with me, who is always on the lookout for trying new, interesting ways to spice things up! How to make foollproof unions of Cold Espresso and Cold Brew Coffee, with rum? What brands/labels? What proportions? Spoil me please, if you can!

Try a so called "Carajillo" recipe. Very good with very sweet rums like Amazona Dulce Mallorca.

I learned that Dictador also produces coffee, has anyone tried it?

Thanks! That with El Dorado seems to be very enticing (i might not be a fan of sweet rums to sip, but i would never say no to a nice mix, a genuine pairing)!

I don't drink coffee every day, but when I do, it is always very strong. I use 3 TBS of Dark Roast Central American Arabica to 2.5 cups of water to brew my large cup. With this as my basis, it sometimes becomes Caribbean Coffee!!! This is by adding an ounce or two of El Dorado 8 or other strong tasting rum to the coffee. Jamaican rums also work very well, but Blue Mountain coffee from Jamaica is a waist of money. Stick with any dark roast Central American Arabica! And if you want a rum with coffee notes, look no further than any of the Dictadors that are aged in barrels where they also store coffee beans. However, I added one of my prized Dictador rums to my cup of coffee and it did not improve the flavor while winding up being some wasted good rum.

I sometimes replace Kahlua by cold strong coffee in regular dink recipes if I want to reduce sweetness.
