This is interesting reading even for experienced rum drinkers like me. I especially liked the chapter on glasses. However, I can sum up most of what Captain Jimbo wrote in just four words, "Drink what you like". The in depth analysis of these articles will more than likely blow most of the minds of the new rum drinkers. Therefore, I propose my very simple approach!
Stick with rums costing between $20 US and $50 US for starters. With these reviews as a guidance, you should wind up with an 80% chance that you will rate your new rum as 6 or higher. That is not bad at all for starters!
