With not being able to get nice rums from out side the USA, or the country you live in. I find it so irritating that the good online rum stores will ship every where but the USA. Any one find any international shops besides master of malt and whiskey exchange I should check out? Incidentally anyone in the UK or France check out excellence rhum, and I am jelous you can get stuff shipped from them.

I agree, the US is crazy with it's state-specific shipping laws. Even the good ones only seem to ship to 15-20 states :(

I have noticed that, I feel for you. I don't see why in this day and age you can't get things like rum shipped to you. To make matters worse for me I live is Massachusetts, they don't allow most places to ship into this state. I get around that by having it shipped to my in laws that live in Connecticut. Where in Canada do you live? Could make a trip across the border?

it is all about taxes. even worse, i can bring a bottle duty free home from any country but by the law i cannot take booze across provincial borders. because the province you enter with the booE never made the sale and thuhs did not fet the taxes. most provinces except quebec... province sells the booze as a monoply. i travel outside the country several times a year so i bring home bottles each trip. i live in nova scotia. eg of taxes. ron zacapa 1 litre in the US i dind for 50 canadian. it is 80 canadian here at home. just before our dollar got hit, when it was on par with you, it is 35 canadian... ouch. taxes.

I have sailed to The Bahamas a few times but didn't get into Rhum at the time. One could buy duty free on the cruise ship but they don't let you have your purchase until you get back to port, so you can't have a private party on the balcony. I may or may not have found a Cuban cigar, not sure if Cuban rum was available on the island. They may be bound to support the blockade in exchange for the cruise ship trade. I have heard you can import a certain amount of cigars and Rhum now but would still fear customs officials keeping my il gotten booty.

duty free rum on a cruise ship is practically zacapa 23. if you bu the bottle at the star of the cruise, $225. if you buy it on the last day, $35. if you do back to back cruises... get it. yippie on th second cruise. you can also buy on anisland and they will hold it until last day of cruise... done both many times.

I'm fortunate to live in a state that the distributors in the UK can ship to. It has allowed me to get bottles of MANY rums that I can find locally even being friends with a family that owns numerous local liqueur stores. I find it more frustrating that even with my friends family willing to order bottles for me our limited number of distributors in my state to liquor stores don't choose to add many of these limited release rums to their inventory so my local liquor stores couldn't order me a bottle even if they wanted to. :/

A. Greenleaf... Today must be your birthday, because I have a present for you. I also live in Mass, where you - supposedly - can't have spirits shipped in. However, there are 2 places in California who will ship to ANY state in the US. I've ordered and received hard-to-find rums from both places, cheerfully delivered by Fed Ex ("We come when you're not home"). The bottles were packed really well, fully intact. I'm happy. Here are the links. http://www.melandrose.com/asp_pages/index.asp http://www.holidaywinecellar.com/default.aspx Most of what they offer is pretty mundane, but they do carry a couple of items (Xtabentun and Koloa) which I've never seen in Boston. Good luck!

I just started using mail order, definitely opens up the possibilities. FedEx wouldn't deliver without an adults signature so I had to pay extra to redirect my shipment to my work place. But I got the rum :-)

Ramon - you can have them leave the package at any FedEx office and pick it up at your leisure, no charge. Many are open 24 hrs.

mistercoughy , I have been getting things from master of malt, shipping is huge but the stuff you can get is out of this world. I have a few leads on some really rare stuff, if you are interested let me know, I just got some single cask plantations from a local store that ship within MA. I am close to the CT line so I pop over all the time to get things not available in MA. If you are ever interested in trading things let me know I have a large collection of rums and bourbons.

I use wine-searcher.com to find stores that carry rums(or any alcohol) that I'm looking for. Input a rum and seach and it'll show who carries that rum. I have ordered from several different places from several different states. B-21 being one of my favorites but, also Ace, Liquor Barn, Sunset Corners, Binny's, Mission, Drink Up NY, Total Beverage. Many have shipping deals. B-21's deal is $12 shipping on the 21st of every month if you buy 12 bottles. You can mix in wine and spirits too. Good selection IMO.

WOW! You guys are first class Doctors of Rum. Thanks for all the excellent tips on where-to-buy. A.Greeneaf...Thank you for the offer to trade. I'm afraid my "collection" is nothing more than what's available in local liquor stores. Nothing at all exotic. I have dreams of hitting the lottery and buying up the entire UF30E catalog, but until then it's gonna have to be somewhat more modest. I know there are a few Total Wine stores in CT. Any of them worth visiting for rum purchases? The one in Natick is only so-so. Ramon and Scott...for what it's worth, Fed Ex emailed me ahead of both of my rum deliveries, warning me to have an adult home to sign...but both times the packages were simply left on my doorstep without any fanfare or signature required. So maybe don't take them too seriously... 2.ooohhh, Ramon and Nomad...Thank you for all the sites. I will check them out pronto! Rum friends are the best.

Thank You Mistercoughy, my collection is pretty much off the shelf as well. I am lucky to live near the most affluent area in the state so the local fare may be a bit better than most. Being in Tennessee there are hundreds of bourbons and whiskies on the shelves But I too am running out of rum choices locally. Now I go to nice restaurants and clubs and buy $100 plus rums by the drink. I also downloaded Blue Chair Bay Rums app which helped me find a bunch of local stores I didn't know where there. I took pictures of some of the unusual stuff on the shelves and started researching on this forum and web sites before I plop down $20 to $40 dollars a bottle. It's an adventure for sure.

Mistercoughy Total wine in Manchester is really good. To be honest I know a few places in mass that have good selection. Table and vine in western mass is great for me and you but not so much for anyone outside the state. Just got four single cask plantations from them. Try julios if you haven't already. Norwood wines and liquors has some really rare stuff but the prices are on the high side. Just as a side note master of malt does ship to mass and Florida which is hard to come by.

If you can get some of the Bristol classic rums. I have tried the 1974 Caroni and the 1986 rockley still, both were fantastic. The Caroni is not for everyone though. Sunset captain Bligh xo is supposed to be good to. I need to try and stop buying rums for a little bit but I don't see that happening. Matter of fact I bought diplomatico single vintage 2000 tonight at a local store.:/

Duncan Taylor 17yo Uitvlugt 1997 full bottle plus about 30 samples, including St Nick's 5, 10,15, a few Banks Guyanas, couple of Caronis, Rum Nations, Diamonds, St. Lucias, DDL single casks, etc. I love that place. Once I figure out which samples to re-order as full bottles, I may just move to London and save on shipping...

Just used Master of Malt for the first time this week. Bought two bottles of Ron Millonario XO. The shipping isn't bad if you buy multiple bottles. Haven't tried it but I imagine it's wonderful, also. Got it online (and they do deliver to MA) (probably CT as well) from lovescotch.com Duncan Taylor Caroni! I imagine it'll be spectacular.
