Folks, Much to my regret I've been made aware Captain Morgan 1671 was only a limited supply and the product is no longer in production. I loved that stuff and I can't get over how smooth yet strong, flavorful and easy to drink it was. It just did it for me. I'd drink it on the rocks during cold weather and add Vanilla Coke or a splash of lime on hot summer nights. I miss it a great deal. I've come here to get recommendations on a liketype/similar product. Any suggestions? Thank you so much. Heartbroken in GA.

It is still around here. I haven't tried it but I was going to pick up a bottle. What other runs do you like? That may help suggest a new one to you.

My favorite too, you never get over your first love. I bought a dusty old bottle and word must have spread, when I went back the rest were gone. I suspect pirates. Anyway one you might like is Black Magic and another I found quite nice is Shipwreck. Good luck

Thanks for your reply. After trying a few this past holiday season, I ended up settling with Goslings, but it's too "thick" and black to compare. I suspect what does it for me is the butterscotch, but also how smooth 1671 is/was. First love indeed.

Interestingly enough I found several bottles of Captain Morgan 1671 at a couple of local liquor stores while unsuccessfully searching for Jefferson's Reserve Ocean Aged at Sea limited edition bourbon for my wife. Only noticed because of this discussion.

Well, never a bad time for a good deed, is there? :) Whereabouts did you come across them?

Found 5 dusty bottles at some obscure little town liquor store well north of Atlanta and bought them all. I'm down to 2. I guess the trick is to stop at any liquor store and try my luck - until they're all extinguished from planet earth or Captain Morgan gets it together again.

I checked every store I could find in my area, I do know where 3 bottles of Tatoo are. I hope The Captain has an ear out and knows there is a market. I could honestly see 1671 moving up one shelf next to the private reserve instead of getting lost with The Black , and The Kraken spiced rums.
