I have reviewed 25 spiced rums on here in more than two years. However, I like them, but they don't like me. I can no longer handle any spiced rum because they just tear my insides apart. So here are my top 10 spiced rums and the only ones that I can recommend. Blackwell's Reserve Lemon Hart Blackpool Foursquare Spiced Brinley Gold Shipwreck Spiced Chairman's Reserve Spiced Don Q Oak Barrel Spiced El Dorado Spiced Parade Spiced Rum (now known as Three Roll Spiced Rum) Bones Spiced Baron Samedi Spiced Rum Notice than the widely available brands never made it to this list.

To be honest I shied away after one of the Captain Morgans offerings and besides, I am not so interested in sweet rums. Have you ever tried the spiced rum from Elements Eight? I am currently trying their 'Vendome' and 'Republica' and am very impressed. Their Spiced rum should be only natural ingredients so maybe it ain't too bad either.

Harrie, I cannot get anything from Elements Eight where I live, nor can I have them shipped to me.

Well Paul, sometimes life is just not fair....Here you can get them a lot cheaper than in the UK where the brand originates but that is a bit off topic so back to the spiced rums!

Harrie: I absolutely love Angostura 1919, which I classify as being semi-dry. However, the spices that they use to make it very appealing to me just knock my internal plumbing to smithereens. Old age sucks and then one can still drink a limited amount of rums that do not wreak havoc on one's system. For this reason, I am not even willing to try any more spice rums, even if someone gave them to me. This is why I posted my top 10 out of 25 tried, because there will be no more spiced rums reviewed by me. I like them, but they don't like me!

@Paul do you have a top #1 of the 25 that everyone should stock as a great spiced?

Andy: They are listed in my preferred order, so the only one that I rated as an 8 is Blackwell's Reserve. I love that rum, but it does not love me. The funny thing is, rums that have artificial spices do not wreak havoc on my system. I suspect that nutmeg may be my culprit.

Inspired by this thread, with a giftcertificate still waiting to be used and a great deal online I just ordered the Don Q's Oak Barrel Spiced. Let's hope it can replace the foul memory of Captain Morgan's concoction with something more pleasant!

Harrie: You will NOT be disappointed. In the world of spiced rums, going from Captain Morgan (below the bottom rung of the ladder) up to Don Q Oak Barrel Spiced is like climbing all the way up to near the top of the ladder. Enjoy!
