I realy Like the El dorado 15 to sip. For me it's a sweet, but not to sweet rum, with a lot of flavours and a Nice burn. I Like how it tastes, smells, and what happens after. Until now I have not been able to find a rum that I enjoy this much. So if anyone can reccomand a rum simmilar to this one, that I Will injoy, please, go ahead.

Some rate the El Dorado 12 higher than the 15. I think the Zacapa Solera 23 is along the same lines. Or Diplomatico Reserva Exclusiva.

I also like El Dorado... well, the whole darn line. Nice and dessert-like, easy to sip. I'd also recommend Zacapa 23 Solera as similar, and maybe Dos Maderas 5+5 PX. If you can get Gosling's Family Reserve, try that.

ElD 15 is not too sweet and a little bit spicy. I would try BOTUCAL SINGLE VINTAGE 2004/2005.

A smoke, oak and sherry bomb. It's good and differs from other rums. And the price is very good. But it's not like El Dorado isn't it? I tasted Cubaney Gran Reserva 15 yesterday. It's from Oliver & Oliver (same as RQM30) and I liked it, as much as ElD.

I agree that the Quorhum 30-Year is amazing. If you like that one, you might also try the Ron Centenario 20 and/or 25 year rums, which are my personal go to rums, since I can't find the Quorhum 30 in the US.

Eldo 15 is definitely one of my favourites. Plantation XO 20th anniversary is also one of my favourites, maybe my favorite.

Thanks for all the tips here. I think I can get the Centanero 20 so will try it if money allows. Hamilton 86 I’ve never heard of, notating

I will try and find Hamilton 86. Recommended rums are definitely something to try. Thanks

My absolute favourite and which isn't too far from the ED15 in flavour is the Peruvian Ron Cartavio XO. I can't recommend it enough!

Ron Cartavio XO does indeed taste great when first opened, and is a lot better than ED15. However, since it has 29 gpl of added sugar, one can expect the taste to gradually deteriorate as more air enters the bottle. This amount of sugar is just 1 gpl shy of calling it a sugar bomb (which ED15 also qualifies as). Try it, but don't expect the bottle to last too long. I recommend two months maximum.

I'm not sure I agree to that, I have an opened bottle of Cartavio that I have been sipping from since 2017, without me noticing any considerable decay in flavour. Or maybe I just like it deteriorated :-)

SveinMagnus: You must be one of the lucky ones who got an old bottle before they started adding all of that sugar. Hang onto it!!!! If you were to taste a current bottle that has deteriorated after a month, you would see what I am talking about. They obviously broke the classic rule of "If it works, don't fix it!"

Well I did buy it at the Lima Airport tax-free, so could be they had some old stock there :-) I'll try to get a new bottle soon and do a comparative tasting to see if I notice any difference. I've noticed similar deterioration in other rums however, for instance the Flor de Cana 12yo, where I had a bottle from 2016 that was quite good, but the new "Legacy" bottles from 2019 were not nearly as good. Less flavour and more sharpness and gasoline aromas, so they obviously cut down on production quality.
