Hey all, Most high rated rums are meant to be enjoyed straight or with some ice only and should not be wasted for rum & coke. I don't mind paying 60+ Euro for a bottle of sipping rum, but rum which I use for rum & coke/Cuba Libre should stay (well) below 40 Euro. For this purpose I like Angostura 5 year old, Appleton Estate VX, Kraken and even some Havana Club 3 year old. What do you guys mix with coke? Cheers, Rob

I've used Mount Gay as a mixer for more than 15 years. I have tried a lot of other rums, but MG is what I always return to.

I use a variety of rums with Coke Zeros. They included, but are not limited to Cayman Reef Double Black, Ron Zacapa 23 Solera, Santa Teresa 1796, Brugal Anejo, Angostura 1919, Oronoco Fazenda Reserva, Real McCoy 5-year, Matusalem Gran Reserva 15-Year, Bayou Spiced, Papa's Pilar Blonde, et al. I plan on seeing how some other rums work in Coke Zero such as 10 Cane, Smith & Cross Navy Strength, Havana Club 7-year, et al.

Depends on the rum, the coke, and the drinker's budget. I've enjoyed quite a few VERY high end rums mixed just to try them out. Some are still amazing even with a proper coke. I do find it sad that to get good coke to match with my rums here in the states I have to import it from Mexico though.
