What is 1.) the best rum you have at home? 2.) the most expensive rum you have at home? I think the most expensive I have is Diplomatico Single Vintage 2000 (about 130€) and for me it's one of 10 best rums I have tryied.

Mt gay 1703 would answer both. (Zacapa XO would have been my most expensive but I got a great deal on it.)

Most expensive is the Ron Zacapa XO. Best would probably be the Zacapa XO for a sweet rum and either the Diplomatico Reserva Exclusivo or Santa Teresa 1796 for a drier rum.

Diplomatico 2002 This has about half the added sugar of the Diplomatico RE, which has 35g per bottle Tom, it's not dry at all, very sweet, almost syrupy. Lovely rum for a beginner but the sweetness got a bit much after a while. Drier rums like MGXO, Appleton 12 and RL Seale's 10 take more getting used to but it's worth the effort as they're better made with no cheating so more to appreciate. I also find they smell much better, more going on, especially the Seale's. Haven't tried ST1796 yet.

My bad on my comment above...Diplomatico is suppose to be added with the Zacapa as sweet rums. Diplomatico adds sugar to their rum! Must have been tired when I made the reply! I will say this however, the Diplomatico is a very good rum and the sugar does play favorably to the rum and is great as an after dinner rum!

Bacardi 8 is best I have at home and some others around the same price. I enjoy it and it’s not expensive. I enjoy it with a splash of water and with ice sometimes.

Plantation XO is the best, but I don't know if it's also the most expensive since some of my rums were presents 😏

My currently best rum is Real McCoy 12y the Special Edition bottled at 46 percent, finished in Madeira casks. It's truly spectacular. But my best rum I ever had (I kept the bottle) was 18 years old Caroni Heavy Rum bottled by Velier, distilled in 1994 and bottled at 62.59 % ABV. That stuff was simply amazing.
