I'm pretty new to rum and to RumRatings. I have a couple of questions on pictures.

First, I can't add a pic to my ratings in the Android app. I'm not the only one with this problem, am I?

Second, I noticed that some of the rums have a default picture. Is there a way that I can upload a pic to be used as the pic in the cabinet?

There's a little learning curve for using the app, so I could be missing something.

Thanks for flagging that image upload isn't working for Android, the RR developer is scheduled for Thursday this week and I'll put this on top of his things to check out.

Regarding bottle images, I have the URLs for all the missing ones, but the background needs to be removed in photoshop first so it's not as easy as just uploading them. I have a large enough number that now I'm planning on having some outsourced help cut them out in the next few weeks, so all should have bottle images soon :)

While RR is a side project for me, I've been trying to improve the experience as quickly as I have time/funds for development help. Please ping me via rumratings@gmail.com with any suggestions you have on how to minimize the learning curve or otherwise improve the experience - always very open for suggestions!

I have a pic of St. Nicholas Abbey 8 yr Rum (which has no background) that could be added to the database and which is saved in my iPad photo. What is the procedure to add it to the database?

Andy, I bet if you put a section on your web page for this app to have the users of the app to submit their pics with the background removed, you'd have plenty of people doing the work for you. You'd have to verify the work, and put up strict rules, but it would get that work done.

When you rate a rum, there is a button that says as an image. Then search for the image on the phone.

Greg - have you updated your Android app? I'm told Android image upload should now be working - I have an iPhone so hard to test.

That's great news. I've updated it, but haven't logged any new rum since. I'll have to go out and get a bottle of something I haven't had to try out the image upload thing.

I'm not sure that it has been fixed. Now when I post a rating with a picture attached, it displays the following error:

Incomplete response received from application

Tequilalex - just rolled out unfollow threads feature, no should be able to at top of every thread

Greg - we exchanged emails, seems like Android is working now

Graham - no way currently to add pics to a discussion topic unfortunately

This still doesn't seem to be working. I am trying to add a rum, and also include a picture from my iPad, but nothing seems to happen. If I try to add the rum, it just says " page not available", so I'm guessing both issues are related maybe?
Any suggestions?

Hi all, I'm really getting nowhere with adding pics.
Either on phone or iPad, i rate a rum, leave my comments, then when I try to add a pic, wether I opt for camera or photo library the site crashes back to the home page.
HELP.

Please email rumratings@gmail.com with specifics of what is happening and what device you're on. I haven't had a user report they were having troubles with this for quite a while now - so I'm surprised you're saying it's not solved

Hi Andy,
I tried to include picture in my rating of Botucal Reserva.
iPad, iOS, Chrome
First time Chrome colapsed, then next three attempts nothing happend when I tap “upload picture” button.
Now I checked, and picture is there.
Sorry.

Great, I think you're saying everything is working now as expected. If you're still finding anything is broken please do email and I'll have the developer take a look.

It would still be nice to have a possibility to submit images directly for use in the shelf, not just adding them to the own rating. I'm shure plenty of users would be able to submit also pics with transparent background, this should not be a problem nowadays. The shelf just doesn't look good, nor informative with all those placeholders.
