Although I enjoy sipping on the Ron Barelo Imperial, once you taste better quality, this rum is excellent for blending. I found a rich maple taste and scent to it.

Mi è stato servito non su richiesta con ghiaccio e limone, per quanto preferisca bere il rum liscio devo dire che si è difeso bene! Va bene come drink non impegnativo dopo cena

Ever since they rebranded, I love the stuff. And the price point is perfect.

Sweet, smooth and a little dry. Sugarcane, spice, oak and the usual vainilla, caramel from the bourbon casks. Fruit, I tasted like, kiwi...first time on that, it was nice. Finish, sweet nutty caramel oak. With water, dried pinnaple..sort of, and all of the above. I have a friend who loves it with coke......I like it neat.

I first tried the Barcello rums while in the Dominican. Then they started bringing it up here once a year, now it is a staple. I am glad. It is a great standard for rum. It is not to dry and not too sweet with no real added flavours to hide the bare rum.. On a tasting my friends indicated that they found it nice and did not try to overdo anything. Just Rum, not too much oak, not too sweet, no vanilla or spices hiding the spirit. in that way Barcello is a bold rum. I like this one as well as the Barcello Gran Anejo (cheaper), which are both always on my shelf. This one is also in a very attractive glass bottle showcasing the amber goodness.

It's rum, and it doesn't taste like gasoline, so there's not anything predominantly bad going on with it. It's just not anything special.

This is one of my favourites now. Nice smell. Even better taste, smooth, sweet, little bit oaky. I'm not much of a pure rum drinker, but I could get used to this one on the rocks.

Relative cheap, but tasty fine rum with a little bit rough end

A friend got this bottle for me as a birthday present .It's maybe not the rum with most flavours, but it is really nice and easy to drink. At first I tried it in a Cuba Libre putting maybe a bit too much rum in it but after drinking I though exactly the opposite, that I forgot putting rum in it, so smooth it was. What did that mean? The rum can be mixed but is probably better for sipping, what I tried next. And yes, its definitely a smooth sipping rum, not sweet what I like a lot, but not complex altough. I did not notice any wood or leather, maybe there is but so little I can't see it after all that cuban and venezuelan rums I usually drink. You can do nothing wrong with this rum, it will suit everyone who likes sipping and not mixing. It's maybe not a rum for a rum expert as its lacks complexity but definitely a rum I would buy again (and so I did).
