For me this is a great rum for his price. If you like it, be sure to try the βonyxβ
I can live with it...if you have to. Little harsh, it ended up in rum-cola

Let me start by saying that I have not really enjoyed Dominican rums so far. This is a beautiful bottle, with a great color and nose to the rum itself.
I find it to be somewhat dry, with a bit of smoke/leather notes, and a not unpleasant burn.
I feel that if I had paid full price for this, I might have been disappointed, but since it was on sale I grabbed it to check out.
Since my own preference leans toward darker and complex flavors, I found this one a bit harsh.. but perhaps on ice it would be better. It seems too nice to be mixed with cola, but it was enjoyable that way.
The bottle is a beauty. Looks very special. Nose has some sweetness. Hardly any alcohol to discover. The taste is very standard. Not very sweet, but good enough. Smooth without any afterburn. Ok as a sipper, probably not very good as a mixer.
Barcelo Imperial is a Dominican rum aged in oak barrels for years. In this magnificent bottle there is a dark, copper colored rum. The aromas are like butterscotch, vanilla and raisins. The sweetness in the aromas also exist in the taste. The taste has hints of toffee, butterscotch and pumpkin, but is not overly sweet. The aftertaste is very short, but is nice and oaky with some dark chocolate. Because this rum has a very short aftertaste it scores a 7 instead of an 8. But it is decent, and probably everyone will drink this rum with pleasure.
A good rum, but too dry for my taste and a bit harsh
I didn't have high hopes with the particular one, but I was pleasntly surprised. Pineapple on the nose vanilla, carmel and fruitsm on the pallete. Not the smoothest one, but quite enjoyable as an everyday sipper.
Most will take a liking to this rum. I find it pleasant and it has a nice aroma in the glass. Not the best, but very far away from the worst rums! Best of all is the price...at least here in Dominican Republic.

The nose is light and gentle.

A bit more harsha with nice coconut and nut body. Aftertaste is slightly plainer. Well rounded sipper.
