Barcelo Imperial rum is produced in the Dominican Republic using column stills before aged in white oak casks for up to 10 years.
Ron Barcelo was founded in 1929 by Spanish entrepreneur Julian Barcelo in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. The brand was sold mainly in the Caribbean and North America until a much broader international expansion began in 1992.
Tasty, but not quite great
Several bottles already tested ! Discovered in Dominicana from the AFD-Barcelo distillery, this rum is easy access for the aficionados. Smart color & smells like a premium rum. The taste is short & the alcool attack very smooth. I recommend it for the guest who wants to discover rums form Caraibian islands.
Sweet, smooth and a little dry. Sugarcane, spice, oak and the usual vainilla, caramel from the bourbon casks. Fruit, I tasted like, kiwi...first time on that, it was nice. Finish, sweet nutty caramel oak. With water, dried pinnaple..sort of, and all of the above. I have a friend who loves it with coke......I like it neat.
