Easily consumable in a bind
Rum tasting in Baton Rouge continued with Tiki Lovers Dark. Childish bottle and label design. Mahogany color. Pure rubbing alcohol mixed with plenty of Jamaican funk and glue, some rotten bananas and raw cocoa to your nose and palate when neat sipped. Strong and dry burn at the end. Nasty even as a mixer.
Blend of jamaican(hampden estate), barbados(foursquare) guyanese and trinidad rums, bottled at 57%, not sure about dosage, caramel colour probably added.
Nose: first impressions i get of this is a mixture of Myers and El Dorado 8 with lots of standard dark funk flavour, also quite strong rum raisin type notes, lots of Guyana burnt caramel notes and then some of the so called chocolate,
light molasses sweetness.
Tasting reveals bit dry harsh kick, trini column still adds quite a lot of lightness when compared to the very rich nose.
Maybe not for the common "sugared xo rum connoiseur" but this is a very good value mixer for tiki fans so thumbs up from me.
Fermented banana, very sweet in the nose. A lot of brown sugar and some earth. Taste: A lot of power and full of dark chocolate powder and butter, however, only slightly sweet. Also some flowers in there, very interesting.
