Barbancourt 3 Star 4-Year

Glad to have a Haitian rum in my collection. This one is lovely and I've been able to use it in many different things - it plays well in a Mai Tai! :)

not the best, not the worst. in between. if you want to have a nice rhum for a minimum of bucks, than try. taste it neat on its own. the whole taste goes into the direction of the five star. but in the end it lacks complexity and smoothness.

It's hard to compare this to the 8 year, since both have ethanoly aromas and flavors in them. This might actually have more ethanol flavors in it.

Menej kompkexny ako jeho starsi bracek. Chut sladka (hoci bez pridaneho cukru), trava, med, jemny s teplym dozvukom. Za mna 7+

A nice, dry rum with a nice aroma indicating some sweetness. The flavor is also nice. Similar to the 5-star but not as smooth. It has somewhat of a complexity about it. A little more of a burn than the 5-star but nothing harsh. There is a butteriness to it along with a mild sweetness. There seems to be similarities between the 3-star and 5-star rums with the differences being somewhat minute. The longer aging definitely makes the 5-star smoother and the flavors stand out more. This one is as expected of a younger rum. Definitely makes a good mixer. And is wonderful in Coke Zero. I still wish they used a cork instead of a metal screw cap.

Easy to drink. Mellow flavor compared to the five star. Nothing too special.

This 3-star rum is 4 years old, and has a very thin, grassy taste. Not so funny like 5 stars.

To me, it's an OK rum, not the best by far. It has the presence and the sting you want from rum, but not the complexity to be called a great rum. Ok at best

Great mixer, especially with other good rums. Bitey but flavorful.

Un haitien... Forte présence de vanille. Bcp de corps mais moelleux malgré tout. Rond comme il se doit.
