Okay, this is it. This is the stuff of legends. The bottle this was tasted from was gifted to me by me grandfather and was bought in Austria in 1982.
Nose: Sugar, Liquorice Root, Herbal Medicine, Caramel and Vanilla Extract
Taste: Sugar, Plastic, Liquorice Root, Herbal Medicine and Vanillin with a artificial, but surprisingly short aftertaste
Overall: Well, this is just bad. I knew it would be, but it still is.... bad. The artificial flavours covers up the 80 abv pretty well and it drinks much easier than that, but it is simply bad "rum". It gets a 2/10, because it is quite good to use in your baked goods.

it's nothing more than a gimmick. extremely strong and that's the only thing it has going for it.

I do not consider this as a traditional natural dark rum. It might be suitable for hot drinks or mixing. I would not consider this as a sipper. Taste is almost burning and it has unpleasant notes that i have not tasted before in spirits. Likely the second worst spirits experiense, and i like some bitters like branca although taste of Stroh is not very bitter.

super heavy rum, with nothing interesting, just bad.
I don't think this is intended to be drunk undiluted, but it's wonderful sprinkled over chocolate cake (transformational!) and great added to coffee. My Dad, who was Austrian, used to add it to his coffee on a cold day. Personally, I wouldn't add it to mulled wine because the flavour is a bit too assertive, shall we say. I always keep a bottle handy, myself.

A very unique rum, easy to judge negatively. However if you take time to appreciate its sophistication you will find its utterly fabulous

Like drinking butterscotch someone has lit on fire. Ruins any mixed drinks it's used in.
If I get a sore throat and cough I am reaching for this! It has a very strange color....like Ricola. It has a very strange taste...like Ricola. Sort of an herbal Jaegermeister, Robitussin mix. I was tempted to take it with a spoon. It would have been a natural in a Wild West medicine show peddled from a covered wagon! Strong like medicine too! The more I sipped it the more I kind of liked it. It’s smooth too, in an earthy medicinal way. I like it. Especially if it helps my cough! Hey Billy Bob! Give me a couple bottles of this Wild West Ricola tonic will ya?
Absolutely rancid and completely fake.
"A huge waft of sweet sugar and sickly sweet honey notes."

This is the only rum I have spit instantly into a Kleenex as going to the sink would be too far. And I was in the kitchen.
Tastes like sore or strep throat spray medicine. Absolutely junk. Would rate it with a minus if possible. It makes the Brugal I rated a 5 seem like a 99.
Absolute garbage. Do not buy. Stay away. Cannot find any redeeming qualities.
