Für meine 8. Rumrunde.

A slightly lighter amber in the glass.
Fruity and light on the nose. Delicious fruit skewers of bananas, peaches and pineapple roasted over embers, the fructose slowly caramelizing. Vanilla, delicate cocoa notes and other exotic spices are accompanied by earthy wood tones.
Soft, delicate and honest on the palate. The fruit treats are now away from the fire and cooled, the caramel glaze shining silkily in the evening glow. Warm liquid chocolate flows over it and a gauzy layer emerges, spice and wood dust quickly sticking to it.
Subtle and long on the finish. Nothing can really decide to go first, together the fruits, caramel, chocolate, spices, woods and grandmother stride towards the sunset.
A great blend that gets better and better the longer it is open in the glass. For beginners, connoisseurs and all who like the pure rum. -8
For my 8th rum round.

yellow gold colour, spicy nose and a great well rounded taste. with 40% alc. this rum is quite easy to drink and has a lovely lasting flavour when you sip it. loved this one on a hot summer night dreaming away to the Caribbean.

Light colour and dry - you can taste no additives were used. Interesting, balanced nose, good flavours, not offensive in any way and very drinkable at 40%. As others have said maybe a bit watery or toned down but I think it's a very nice entry-level rum and I think most people that don't look for sweetened rums will like it.

7: The nose is balanced between a typical Barbadian woodiness of white oak, tobacco and vanilla, and a lighter, still vanilla-flavoured body with a slight vegetal tinge. The cane sugar syrup is gently spiced, the fruits are delicate like in an exotic fruit salad in syrup. Some dried fruits fly over the rum without heaviness, as if on a wire.

With a little time and air, the rum gains in roundness and develops its Barbados side on vanilla blond tobacco and coconut. It is a young wood but tender and melted. The style is seductive and easy, round but not sweet, well balanced between English and Spanish tradition. The aromas are clean and delicious.

7: The palate is soft and pleasant, with a well rounded, fruity and somewhat milky entry. The texture is very comfortable, the rum spreads without exaggeration, gently. It quietly conquers the palate with sweet caramel, vanilla, tobacco and a very tasty coconut. The exotic fruits are nicely milky, it is easy but really pleasant.

6:The finish is very caramelised and mellow, still somewhere between Barbados and the Latino tradition. There is a hint of stone and resinous wood at the very end.

Good taste, nice smell, pleasant to drink. Nothing outstanding and a bit overpriced.

The Compagnie des Indes - West Indies is a blend of rums that come from Barbados, Guyana, Panama and the Dominican Republic and were stored together for 8 years in oak barrels. Without additives, it is bottled with 40% alcohol in the bottle typical for C.D.I..

The nose is dominated by sweet oak and vanilla notes. Everything is very balanced and harmonizes well. Barbados dominates here. Guyana resonates with a light chocolate note. On the palate, the rum is balanced again. Sweet caramel and ripe fruit notes are dominant. Honey comes along. The finish is light and becomes a little more spicy. A little liquorice resonates.

The rum is really good and I recommend it especially for beginners who want to try rum without additives. For me, the 40% are a little too weak and the whole thing a bit watery. But still a fine drop. You can't do much wrong here.

"West Indies 8 years, a blend without any additives – no added sugar, colorings or aromas and 100% 8 years old. Well rounded, delicate yet powerful, maintaining the signature natural elegance of Compagnie des Indes rums. Aged in American oak barrels, this West Indies blend brings together rums from Barbados for a hint of Pot still rums, Dominican Republic, Panama and British Guyana for the Column still"

Nose: Quite sweet, caramel, peach vanilla, honey, star anise and wormwood
Palate: Nicely sweet for unsugared rum, honey, oak spice, nice pepperiness, peach that turns quickly into pleasant sourness like peach pit. Allspice and vanilla with bit star anise.
Finish: delicate and generously oaky with spiciness on the back palate.

Okay blend, nicely sweet for unsugared rum, bit on the light delicate side.
